Split is a city in the south of Croatia in the historical region of Dalmatia, one of the oldest cities in the country and the second most populous after Zagreb. It was built around the ancient palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. The sights of Split are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and in the old town you can still see the remains of Roman walls, squares and temples.
